Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh came into existence as a State Private University under Punjab Govt. Desh Bhagat University Act, 2012. It has evolved from Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes, which was established in 1996 near Mandi Gobindgarh, a well-known industrial town of Punjab, and has its campuses at Mandi Gobindgarh, Muktsar, Moga, Chandigarh and Kenya.
The library which was once started in the year 1996 is now known as Desh Bhagat University Central Library and it exists on the top floor of the management block. It is now fully air conditioned, and computerized with an integrated system connected to the Campus Network, providing Internet and e-mail facility to the academic environment / University community. The reference collection of the Library is continuously updated, and augmented with the acquisition of CD-ROM databases and access to on-line databases on Internet. On-line Public Access Catalogue facility is available at the Reference Desk of the Library. OPAC can also be accessed through any terminal on the Campus Network. Library collection can also be searched through Web OPAC.
The library has a reading hall with large seating capacity. Besides this, there are reading rooms in the periodical section and on all the sections of the library, stack areas are available to facilitate the readers to sit and consult the books in the respective sections.
